The controversial record-breaking Great Western 4-4-0 No. 3440 'City of Truro' is at Cheltenham Race Course station awaiting its train on a rather gloomy May 31, 2008. A passenger searches for his ticket; he has plenty of time to find it. No.3440's claimed 102.3 mph in 1904 has been the subject of debate for many years. I wonder if it is really all that important. The main this is that this historic British locomotive of the Edwardian era is safe for future generations.
