Description
A long shot of the French amphibious assault ship FS Dixmude (L9015) off Bovisand in April 2016. She was some way out, at the limit of my camera's performance (and mine). During her visit to Plymouth, surviving D-Day veterans were awarded the Légion d’Honneur on board.
In case anyone is interested, the yellow buoy to starboard of the ship is a west cardinal, indicating deeper water to the west of the buoy.

Nice! There was talk of SA getting a smaller version of this, a helicopter landing dock, but the (other) media freaked out and said the Navy wanted an "aircraft carrier". As a result of all this panic, we have neither heavy airlift capability, nor seaborne assistance capability to UN missions...
