Doolittle Raid

Description

Something a bit different perhaps. During my recent trip to Texas I visited the National Museum of the Pacific War and the Admiral Nimitz Museum, both in Fredericksburg. There is enough there for a whole day's visit. This necessarily cramped shot, taken on September 28, 2015, shows a B25 Mitchell bomber painted to represent one of those in the famous Doolittle Raid on the Japanese homeland. I don't think it is an actual Doolittle aircraft as all but one that took off from the carrier USS 'Hornet' on April 18, 1942 were lost. However, seventy-one of the eighty pilots and crew members survived.
